Contact

Email [email protected].

We aim to reply within 2 business days. Please include your iPhone model, iOS version, whether Apple Intelligence is enabled, and a short description of the issue. Do not send private draft content unless necessary.

Getting started

1. Install

Install SayWrite from the App Store (iPhone, iOS 26 or later).

2. Record

Open the app and tap the record button on the Create tab. Allow microphone access when prompted.

3. Finish

Speak, tap Finish, then review your refined draft.

4. Copy

Tap Copy Text and paste into email, messages, notes, or any other app.

Requirements

App

iPhone with iOS 26 or later.

Voice capture

Microphone permission.

Transcription

On-device speech support for your language.

AI refining

Apple Intelligence–capable iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled in Settings. If refining is unavailable, you can still transcribe, edit, save, copy, and share the raw transcript.

Offline use

No internet connection is required. Transcription and refining run on your device, so SayWrite works on a plane, a train, or anywhere without Wi‑Fi or mobile data.

Living drafts

Add voice

Open a draft and choose Add voice. SayWrite records a new capture, then appends the transcribed or refined text to that draft so you can keep building one document over time.

Log entries

Choose Add log entry, or say “log entry” / “log update” while dictating. SayWrite stamps a dated section header—handy for journals, status logs, and time-based project notes.

Quick capture

Siri

Say “Capture with SayWrite” to start dictation. Siri opens the app and begins recording immediately.

Other supported phrases include “Start dictation in SayWrite”, “Dictate in SayWrite”, and “Record in SayWrite”.

Widgets and controls

Add SayWrite to Control Centre, the Lock Screen, or your Home Screen. On iPhone 15 Pro and later, you can also assign the Action Button to Start Dictation.

See Settings → Quick capture setup in the app for step-by-step instructions.

Common questions

How do I add more voice to an existing draft?

Open the draft from the library, tap Add (or Add voice), then choose append or log entry. You can also start from the draft’s context menu in the library. After you finish recording, SayWrite merges the new text into that draft.

What is Verbatim?

On a draft, switch between Refined (Apple Intelligence output), Original (cleaned transcript), and Verbatim (what was captured as spoken). Use Verbatim when you want the raw dictation.

What is a log entry?

A log entry is an append with a timestamped section header (date and time). Use it for journaling, daily notes, or a running project log in one draft. You can also say “log entry” or “log update” while dictating.

How do I start dictation with Siri?

Say “Capture with SayWrite”. Siri opens SayWrite and begins recording on the Create tab. You can also say “Start dictation in SayWrite”, “Dictate in SayWrite”, or “Record in SayWrite”.

Is SayWrite free?

Yes. SayWrite is completely free—no subscription, no in-app purchases, and no usage limits. Unlike many transcription and AI note apps on the App Store, there is no paywall and no meter on how much you can dictate or refine.

Apple Intelligence isn’t available

Enable Apple Intelligence in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri on a supported device. Refining needs the on-device model; transcription does not.

No speech was detected

Speak clearly near your iPhone. Check that no other app is using the microphone. Try again in a quieter environment.

Microphone access denied

Go to Settings → SayWrite → Microphone and enable access.

Speech model downloading

On first use, iOS may download speech assets. Wait for the download to finish (check Settings → SayWrite → Availability in the app).

Custom dictionary

Add “heard as” → “correct spelling” pairs in Settings → Dictation → Custom dictionary. Corrections apply after transcription and during refining.

Delete all my data

Use Settings → Privacy and data → Delete all drafts (and optionally delete retained audio or reset settings).
